Tom Saxhaug (born February 22, 1948) is a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 3, which includes portions of Aitkin, Itasca, Koochiching and Lake of the Woods counties in the northern part of the state. A Democrat, he was first elected in 2002, and was re-elected in 2006 and 2010.[1]

Saxhaug is a member of the Senate's Environment and Natural Resources Committee, Higher Education Committee and Agriculture Committee.[2]

Saxhaug completed his secondary education at Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids and later received a B.A. from St. Olaf College in Northfield. Prior to his election to the Senate, he served on the Grand Rapids City Council from 1995 to 1997, and was an Itasca County Commissioner from 1997 to 2003. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children.[1]
